Phase 2
The Last Party celebrates the creative ferment that exploded in New York’s club culture in the mid 70s, following Watergate and the Vietnam War. It became a phenomenon whose influence spanned three decades and crossed continents until it waned in the early 90s.
The Last Party is a survey exhibition of fine art, graffiti and street art, photography, video, fashion, and memorabilia that is profiled in Anthony Haden-Guest’s 1997 book, The Last Party: Studio 54, Disco and The Culture of the Night.
This exhibition will run throughout the summer at WhiteBox. Offsite musical performances and capsule exhibitions will be hosted at ACME and VS Gallery (dates to be announced).
