The Front Window Summer '24 Project is proud “To inaugurate a sidewalk News Kiosk as part of our ongoing initiative, we are thrilled to present Noah Fischer’s New York 2044, Issue 1, an ongoing artwork and publication commissioned and produced by More Art.”
We are thrilled to present Noah Fischer's New York 2044, a commissioned artwork, news piece, and social sculpture at WhiteBox. This project joining the WhiteBox GreenBox/ISLA Summer '24 program Expanded Narratives on Art and Ecology, highlights the challenges of urban sustainability, particularly when a significant portion of the population continues to struggle with the lack of affordable housing.
The Project: New York 2044
New York 2044 is a speculative and humanist newspaper that explores the imaginations of the people who shape the city and envision its near future. The first issue focuses on affordable housing, with plans to explore different topics through 2025. By engaging with activists, politicians, business people, and academics, the project gathers insights about their future visions and past experiences, expressed through both writing and drawing. New York 2044 is not just a publication; it is a social sculpture that embodies collective creativity and community engagement.
Join us in this journey as we delve into the stories and dreams that define New York City. The project is on display until August 10th, 2024 returning on September 12, running through EndGame, a quadrennial WhiteBox Presidential election exhibition, closing on November 30, 2024.
New York 2044 is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
