EndGame: WhiteBox’s Fifth Presidential Election Exhibition - Quadrennial Series
EndGame, the fifth edition of WhiteBox's quadrennial Presidential Election Exhibition Series, draws inspiration from Samuel Beckett’s unsettling portrayal of cyclic finality. This exhibition reflects on the resonances of history—moments that may not replicate but nonetheless echo with familiar urgencies. Set against the critical decisions defining the Republic's 2024 presidential race, EndGame invites artists to present incisive reflections, engaging in a discourse that crosses borders to address socio-political and humanitarian issues with global reverberations.
The exhibition serves as both a layered composition and a proactive expedition, using artistic forms to challenge threats to the common good. Its range of expressions speaks to pressing issues—from social inequality, the housing crisis, immigration, and institutionalized violence, to racial and gender tensions, nationalism, and environmental degradation. Each curator selects one to three artists to present medium-to-small-scale visual, literary, filmic, or performative works, encouraging an intimate yet wide-ranging engagement with these themes.
EndGame, in collaboration with <moreart> showcases its production of Noah Fischer’s News Kiosk journal New York 2024 and zines focused on immigration and New York City’s housing crisis. Partnering with Raul Zamudio’s Jane Street Space, the series presents Hell is Empty and All the Devils Are Here—a dual-exhibition concept with openings on both November 2 at 78 Jane Street, West Village, from 6 to 9 PM, and on Election Night, November 5, at WhiteBox, 9 Avenue B, from 6 PM into the early hours of November 6.
Continuing WhiteBox’s Election Night tradition, starting around 9PM, dual video streams curated by selected artists will run throughout the evening. One screen will feature VJng videos alongside live election updates from FOX News and NEWSMAX, while the other alternates between CNN and MSNBC, providing a balanced media spectrum. This dynamic setup invites artists and guests to engage critically with the unfolding election narrative well into the morning hours.
